Nippon Paper Crecia and Kasuga Paper Industry form tissue production joint venture in Japan
(Tokyo, Japan, Dec. 6, 2016) Nippon Paper Group announced that Nippon Paper Crecia Co., Ltd. and Kasuga Paper Industry Co., Ltd. today concluded a basic agreement to jointly establish a new company in April 2017 that will produce paper tissue and towel products in Japan.
Nippon Paper Crecia will hold an 80% stake in the JV, while Kasuga Paper Industry will hold 20%.

Total European shipments of graphic papers in September 2016 down 4.3% vs Sept. 2015
(Brussels, Dec. 5, 2016) EURO-GRAPH, the European Association of Graphic Paper Producers, published its September 2016 statistics of the European Graphic Papers Industry, which showed total shipments of graphic papers in September were 2,904,000 tonnes, down 4.3% or 132,000 tonnes, versus September of 2015.
Graphic Paper grades include: Newsprint, SC-Magazine, Coated Mechanical Reels, Uncoated Mechanical Reels, Coated Woodfree and Uncoated Woodfree.

Sonoco to invest $20 million in new battery packaging center

Sonoco’s Display and Packaging unit will be located in Duracell’s new leased facility in the Atlanta area.

Tri-Wall to take over Polish cardboard packaging maker; acquisition plans in Poland
(Hong Kong, Dec. 05, 2016) Hong-Kong based Tri-Wall Europe Holding Limited has unveiled plans to take over Polish cardboard packaging producer TPMS Polska sp. z o.o.
The Hong-Kong based firm applied to the Polish competition watch-dog UOKiK to secure an approval for its acquisition plan. Tri-Wall aims to take over a 58% stake in TPMS. The amount of the deal was not disclosed.
