(Little Rock, Arkansas, USA, Nov. 22, 2016) Sun Paper’s proposed USD1.3 billon pulp mill in Clark County, Arkansas, will manufacture dissolving pulp and NOT fluff pulp as the company had earlier announced. The decision to transition in favor of dissolving pulp was made after the product feasibility studies were completed.

Clearwater Paper to close Oklahoma city tissue converting facility and restructure Neenah mill
(Spokane, USA, Nov. 29, 2016) Clearwater Paper Corporation (CLW) today announced the permanent closure of its Oklahoma City converting facility and permanent shutdown of two tissue machines at the company’s Neenah, Wisconsin, tissue facility.

Case Paper Completes Installation of New Sheeter
(New York, Nov. 30, 2016) Case Paper announced that it recently completed the installation of a new Maxson MDH dual knife rotary sheeter. The new sheeter increases capacity by 20 million pounds annually.
The sheeter’s high-speed cutter is outfitted with a reject gate, Tidland Class 3 slitter knives for improved cuts, and a stacker with a scissors-lift load table that can change out skids effortlessly. Moreover, the use of air helps lightweight paper remain jam-free when flowing into the stacker.

PT-Fajarsurya orders new corrugators from BHS
(Indonesia, Nov. 29, 2016) PT-Fajarsurya, a subsidiary of the Indonesian paper major PT Fajar Surya Wisesa, awarded a contract for 10 corrugators to BHS Corrugated in September this year, two-and-a-half years after BHS established an Indonesia office. Sappi profit up 91 per cent to $319 million
(Johannesburg, S Africa, Nov. 28, 2016) Sappi’s EBITDA excluding special items for the year was $739 million, an increase of $114 million, or 18%, on the prior year.
Operating profit excluding special items for the year was $487 million compared to $357 million in the prior year. Special items amounted to a gain of $57 million, comprised mainly of a plantation fair value gain as a result of the weaker Rand and the resultant increase in local timber prices.

Empresas CMPC 3Q EBITDA dropped by 21 per cent
(Santiago, Chile, Nov. 28, 2016) Empresas CMPC 3Q 2016 revenue was $1,245 million, 5% higher compared to 2Q 2016 and stable compared to 3Q 2015. Quarter-on-quarter, revenues rose in the Tissue and Pulp division. The Tissue business benefitted from higher sales volumes and prices as measured in US Dollars, which benefitted from the weaker dollar as well as higher prices in local currencies.
EBITDA totaled $264 million during the 3Q 2016, up 19% quarter-on-quarter, but down 21% year-on-year.

FFIF: Finland’s paperboard production up 17.5 per cent in 3Q
(Helsinki, Nov. 30, 2016) Finland's paperboard production grew by as much as 17.5% in the 3Q, to 840,000 tonnes, boosted particularly by new investments in the forest industry. At the same time, paper production declined by 5% and amounted to 1.7 million tones, according to Finnish Forest Industries Federation (FFIF).
Pulp production increased by 11.2% in 3Q 2016to a total of 1.9 million tonnes.
