VTT Researchers Use Nature’s Own Solvents for Preparation of Pure Lignin

(Helsinki, Finland, Sept. 15, 2016) Lignin can now be efficiently and cost-effectively separated from sawdust, by using eutectic solvents. VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland has developed solvents using which 50% of the lignin from wood can be extracted in a pure form that retains its natural chemical structure during processing. Volga to invest in ATMP line

Borregaard to invest in its bioethanol plant in Norway

(Norway, Sept. 15, 2016) Borregaard is one of 14 European companies participating in a demonstration project for the conversion of biomass from wood to value-added chemicals. The project has received funding of Euro 9.9 million (NOK 92 million) from BBI, which is a programme under EU Horizon 2020. NOK 8.5 million goes to Borregaard.
