FSC disassociates from BILT and its Malaysian subsidiary SFI

CEO of Brazil’s Suzano sees industry consolidation amid low pulp prices

(Brazil, 18 August 2016) The pulp and paper industry will face more consolidation, given that excess capacity reduced prices to their lowest in 20 years, said Walter Schalka, chief executive officer of Brazil’s Suzano Papel e Celulose SA , which ranks fifth in the sector worldwide. Nippon Paper takes to torrefaction to produces biomass fuel

(Tokyo, Japan, August 18, 2016) Torrefied pellets will be used in Nippon Paper’s Kushiro coal-fired power plant. This is roasting wood in a similar manner to coffee beans. Through this process, called torrefaction, the Japanese paper company produces biomass fuel. This fuel can then be mixed with coal and burned in coal-fired power plants.
