Stats: U.S. Containerboard Production Up 1.3% in May 2016

(Washington DC, June 16, 2016) The American Forest & Paper Association released its May 2016 U.S. Containerboard Statistics Report which said containerboard production was 1.3 percent higher compared to May 2015. The month-over-month average daily production compared to April 2016 was 2 percent higher. The containerboard operating rate for May increased from 94.3 percent to 95.6 percent while the year-to-date operating rate of 94.3 percent was 1.5 percentage points lower compared to the same period in 2015. Sappi to Build Second Generation Sugar Extraction Demonstration Plant at Ngodwana Mill

(Johannesburg, June 15, 2016) Sappi Limited announced that it has entered into an agreement with Valmet for the construction of a second generation sugar extraction demonstration plant to explore and optimize the extraction of biorenewable chemicals. (Helsinki, June 12, 2016) Stora Enso said that it will invest EUR 26.5 million in Skutskär pulp mill in Sweden to increase its fluff pulp capacity to meet the growing demand in the hygiene market. Valmet to Supply New Tissue Machine to Papel San Francisco in Mexico

(Finland, June 10, 2016) Germany, Valmet will supply an Advantage DCT 100TS tissue production machine to Papel San Francisco in Mexico. The new machine will be installed at the company’s mill in Mexicali. The value of the order was not disclosed. Cascades Completes Corrugated Packaging Plant Deal with Rand-Whitney
