Sonoco announces price increase on recycled paperboard in U.K.

(London, July 28, 2016) Sonoco-Alcore S.a.r.l. today announced it will raise prices by £40 per tonne on all recycled paperboard grades sold in the United Kingdom. Czech Papcel secures deals in Ukraine, Kazakhstan

(Prague, July 18, 2016) Czech paper machine producer Papcel a.s. has obtained three contracts to supply machinery to paper manufacturers from Ukraine and Kazakhstan. Papcel will deliver machinery and modernize the production facility of Ukraine’s Kochawina paper producer. The contract is to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2016. Canada: Construction begins on Ensyn’s Cote-Nord biocrude plant

(Montreal, July 20, 2016) Designed to take advantage of the province’s abundant supply of biomass to produce clean fuel, the Cote Nord Project will convert tens of thousands of metric tonnes of slash and other forest industry residues into millions of litres of renewable biocrude each year. (Washington DC, USA, July 22, 2016) The American Forest & Paper Association has released its June 2016 U.S. Kraft Paper Report. Total Kraft paper shipments were 137.8 thousand short tons, 8.5 percent lower compared to June of last year, which had the highest shipment volume in 2015. Bleached Kraft paper shipments increased from 7.0 thousand short tons in May to 7.7, while unbleached Kraft paper decreased from 131.0 to 130.1 thousand short tons. Stats: U.S. Containerboard Production in June 1.3% Lower than June 2015

(Washington DC, USA, July 22, 2016) The American Forest & Paper Association has released its June 2016 U.S. Containerboard Statistics Report, which said containerboard production was 1.2 percent lower compared to June 2015. The month-over-month average daily production compared to May 2016 was 0.4 percent higher. The containerboard operating rate for June remained flat at 95.6 percent, while the year-to-date operating rate of 94.5 percent was 1.6 percentage points lower compared to the first half of 2015. According to the report, total printing-writing paper shipments decreased 6 percent in June compared to June 2015. Total printing-writing paper inventory increased 2 percent from May levels.
