Heinzel Group to Install Second Paper Machine in Pöls, Austria
(Austria, July 3, 2017) The Heinzel Group announced that it will install a second paper machine at its Zellstoff Pöls pulp and paper mill in Austria for the production of bleached kraft papers.
“Using the new machine, we will be able to manufacture 200,000 tonnes of MG papers annually at the Pöls location,” said Kurt Maier, CEO of Heinzel Holding. “With pulp production in Pöls being expanded at the same time, this has only marginal impact on our annual market pulp capacity of 400,000 tonnes. Following our recent investments at our Raubling and Laakirchen mills, the Pöls project represents another step forward on our packaging paper segment path.”
Currently, the Pöls mill produces bleached softwood kraft pulp (450,000 tpy) sold under the brand name “Orion”, and bleached kraft paper (90,000 tpy) sold under the name “Starkraft”.
Heinzel noted that construction for the new machine is scheduled to begin this summer and start-up is expected in early 2019.
The Heinzel Group, with its subsidiaries Zellstoff Pöls AG, Laakirchen Papier AG (both Austria), Raubling Papier GmbH (Germany) and AS Estonian Cell (Estonia), is among the largest producers of market pulp, containerboard and magazine paper in Central and Eastern Europe.
