Nippon Paper Crecia and Kasuga Paper Industry form tissue production joint venture in Japan
(Tokyo, Japan, Dec. 6, 2016) Nippon Paper Group announced that Nippon Paper Crecia Co., Ltd. and Kasuga Paper Industry Co., Ltd. today concluded a basic agreement to jointly establish a new company in April 2017 that will produce paper tissue and towel products in Japan.
Nippon Paper Crecia will hold an 80% stake in the JV, while Kasuga Paper Industry will hold 20%.
The joint venture will install a new tissue machine with an annual production capacity of 36,000 tonnes at Nippon Paper Industries’ Fuji Mill (eastern Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan).

Through the new joint venture, Nippon Paper said that it “will make effective use of the assets and pulp and energy generated at Nippon Paper Industries’ Fuji Mill, which is conveniently located near the Tokyo metropolitan area, and enhance the paper production and converting capabilities to establish the foundation of a stable supply.
“We will also strive to achieve growth in the market for the household paper product business of the two companies, which is expected to increase in demand, by utilizing the expertise that Kasuga Paper Industry possesses in handling waste paper recycled products and catering to diverse needs,” Nippon Paper explained.
Nippon Paper Crecia, part of the Nippon Paper Group, manufactures and sells family care products, personal care products and professional products, under a license agreement with KIMBERLY-CLARK Corporation of the United States.
