Voith expands Austell Facility’s Roll Cover Technology Capabilities
(Heidenheim, Germany, Jan. 19, 2017) Voith Paper is increasing the offerings of its high-performing facility in Austell, Georgia (USA), with new roll cover technology. The facility will provide rubber roll recovering of the entire line of Voith products for all roll types starting in January.
“The addition of rubber roll covering greatly impacts the capabilities of the Austell roll service center, which will help us meet the region’s paper manufacturing needs,” said Ronnie Hines, Plant Operations Manager at the Austell facility. “This expansion will help us better serve our customers in the Southeast region of the U.S.”
Voith invested more than $3 million to implement state-of-the-art equipment, such as a drill machine, engine lathe and roll blast room, to provide customers in the Southeast with quality covers. The expansion also creates additional career opportunities for the Austell community.
“We’re excited to grow our offerings for our customers in the Southeast,” said Greg Sanchelli, Vice President of Operations. “This expansion of capabilities provides our local customers a cost-efficient roll cover resource that will ultimately save them time and support their productivity.”
Operators and technical support personnel participated in extensive training to prepare for the new capabilities. Sample rolls were built after the new equipment was installed in Austell to ensure smooth operations of the facility’s roll covering processes.
