Burgo to convert Avezzano fine paper mill to recycled containerboard
(Gernsbach, Germany, Jan. 25, 2017) Burgo has signed agreement with local and regional authorities in Italy and the employee representatives regarding the planned restart of operations at the idled Avezzano paper mill in Italy’s Abruzzo region, Euwid reports.
Burgo group is set to enter the recycled containerboard market. Recently, Burgo announced its plans to convert its fine paper mill in Avezzano to recycled corrugated case material production. The conversion project involves the idle 180,000 tpy PM 2, that used to produce coated and then uncoated woodfree paper in the past.
According to Burgo, the PM 2 is to produce testliner and corrugating medium after the rebuild. The company expects the production capacity to be 200,000 tpy. Production start-up is scheduled for the end of 2017. (Source: press release)
